2026 Woodlands Weanlings

The Woodlands winners keep coming, with 79 winners across Australia for Woodlands sires last week alone. Even more pleasing was that 11 of those winners were bred and raised at Woodlands Stud, and seven were graduates of our renowned Woodlands Weanling drafts.

Among them were:

  • Ideal Crown (American Ideal) – purchased for $5,000, now earned $60k in 10 starts

  • Words (Downbytheseaside) – purchased for $4,000, now a winner of $87k

  • Pinseeker (Downbytheseaside) – purchased for $4,200, now a winner of $306,000

Results like these continue to highlight the tremendous value available through the Woodlands Weanling Sale. The 2026 Woodlands Weanling Draft is now available for viewing and consists of 22 quality youngsters, all raised on our rolling pastures and carefully handled by our experienced horsemen and women during their early months.

The draft features weanlings from some of New Zealand’s most prolific families, sired by world-class stallions, and offers a genuine opportunity to secure a future racehorse or pinhook prospect.

Importantly, Woodlands weanlings have repeatedly proven their worth on the track. Recent graduates include Group 1 winners such as:

  • Debbie Lincoln – purchased for $3,500

  • Aardiebytheseaside – purchased for $1,500

  • Fugitive – purchased for $21,000

  • Copy That – purchased for $7,500

  • Christopher Dance – purchased for $8,000

  • Ya Rite Darl – purchased for $8,000

These results demonstrate that outstanding racehorses can be sourced from the weanling sales, often at exceptional value.

Among the highlights of the 2026 draft are a well-related Bettor’s Delight colt, seven nicely conformed trotters, a brother to Group 1 winner Need You Now and a Downbytheseaside filly out of a Group 1 Oaks winner.

At Woodlands Stud we take great pride in the horses we breed and raise, and we look forward with excitement to seeing what this year’s draft can achieve on the racetrack in the future.

The catalogue will be available on Gavelhouse Standardbred on May 7, with bidding opening May 13 and closing May 20.
