CROSSES OF GOLD
Alongside being a terrific racehorse from two until five when he was retired, Sweet Lou was brought also for the reason that he can be crossed with many Australasian mares. Being an outcross sire he works with almost every mare in New Zealand and Australasia, some of the crosses proving successful when bred with him are as follows:
BETTOR’S DELIGHT - a big reason for getting Sweet Lou down under was because he would be the perfect outcross dire for Bettor’s Delight mares. This cross seems to be his strongest in Australasia. In America it is the same, with him crossing well with mares from all of the CAM FELLA lines.
DIRECT SCOOTER - this line is proving to be a strong cross with Sweet Lou. CHRISTIAN CULLEN in particular is proving to be a very popular and successful cross with Sweet Lou with many impressive winners being bred on this cross. MACH THREE, IN THE POCKET and COURAGE UNDER FIRE mares are all also crossing well with him and seeing some great results on the track.
WESTERN HANOVER - Sweet Lou is also crossing well with mares from the Western Hanover line. Sires such as AMERICAN IDEAL, BADLANDS HANOVER, ROCKNROLL HANOVER and WESTERN IDEAL are just some examples of dam sires that are already having success when crossed with Sweet Lou. A ROCKNROLL DANCE mares are also proving to be a great cross with the sire with two of his leading 2023 3YO sons bred on this cross in Confederate and Cannibal.
