/STALLION SEMINARS AT THE FORE FRONT
With a change in tact from the New Zealand Standardbred Breeders for the 2025 Stallion Seminars, there was somewhat confidence in the air from the breeders which was great to see. Turnouts across the country were strong at all 3 venues with around 350-400 participants at all of the events.
Christchurch kicked off the seminars at The Commodore Hotel on Saturday 26th July followed by Ascot Park Hotel on Monday 28th July then finished up at Karaka Pavilion on Wednesday 30th July. With all key studs in attendance there were many service fees given away, raffles galore and plenty of information for the breeder to make their decisions going into the upcoming breeding season. We are very lucky as a country to have access to such well credentialed stallions and no matter what the budget I think breeders have plenty of options moving forward to breed their next champion.

SHUTTLE STALLIONS ARRIVE IN NZ
All of the shuttle stallions for Australasia have arrived into quarantine for the next fortnight in Auckland before arriving on farm at their various locations across the 2 countries. It is always an exciting time of year to have the boys back and at Woodlands we look forward to Downbytheseaside, Lather Up and Sweet Lou joining Bettor’s Delight and Speeding Spur on farm mid-August.
WOODLANDS SIRES LEADING THE WAY
Bettor's Delight continues to be the industry leader as we tick over the half-way mark for 2025. He is the leading sire of all pacing categories in New Zealand by stakes (All Age, 2YO, 3YO, 4YO and 5YO+) and the leading sire of All Age and 2YO's in Australia.
Our other sires are not far behind, all in creditable positions on each leaderboard. Downbytheseaside continues a fantastic run that sees him the clear leading sire of individual 2YO Winners across Australasia with 31 (23 in Australia and 7 in New Zealand), his closest rival being Bettor's Delight with 27 (19 in Australia and 8 in New Zealand).
