ON-FARM STRANGLES PROTOCOL
/Strangles Management Protocol For Mares Foaling and/or being bred at Woodlands Stud this season
Due to the current situation with Strangles being identified in the North Island the following protocol has been put in place:
Outside mares arriving for breeding and / or foaling from Waikato area – RED ZONE
Veterinary proof of recent vaccinations (email from veterinary practice or letter signed by vet before arrival)
Arrival at least 30 days prior to foaling or entering the breeding barn
Mares will be quarantined at our other property for 14 days and temperature checked for five days am & pm.
Mares will be vaccinated on arrival with the new Strangles Vaccine, Strangvacc
Nasal flush for PCR on arrival
Outside mares arriving for breeding and/or foaling from the Auckland, Northland area or outside of the Red Zone
Veterinary proof of recent vaccinations (email from veterinary practice or letter signed by vet before arrival)
Arrival at least 14 days prior to foaling or entering the breeding barn
Mares will be quarantined at our other property for 14 days and temperature checked for five days am & pm.
Mares will be vaccinated on arrival with the new Strangles Vaccine, Strangvacc
Nasal flush for PCR on arrival.
