SIRES FIRING AHEAD OF 2026-27

We continue to be incredibly proud of the stallions that call Woodlands Stud home in Australasia. While they consistently deliver results throughout the year, there is no better time for them to step up than in the lead-up to the breeding season, and that is exactly what is happening!

From Inter Dominion success in Australia, strong winners in New Zealand, and elite results across North America, each one of the Woodlands Stud stallions continue to perform at the highest level.

Here are just some of the highlights from the past week.

INTER DOMINION HEAT DOMINANCE

The Woodlands Stud roster was in outstanding form at Albion Park on Saturday night, combining to sire four of the five Inter Dominion heat winners just one week out from the Grand Finals.

The three pacing divisions produced Woodlands-sired quinellas, highlighting the depth and quality of our stallion roster.

Champion sire Bettor’s Delight produced two pacing heat winners, headlined by superstar Leap To Fame, who remains on track for another Inter Dominion crown.

New Zealand-bred Minos also joined the winner’s list, recording the 10th victory of his career.

Bettor’s Delight also sired Bella Danza, winner of the Listed Fleur De Lil Ladyship Stakes, adding another feature race success and siring treble to an already outstanding night.

Sweet Lou was represented by the impressive Dangerous, who recorded his 14th career victory in the third pacing heat and pushed his stakes earnings closer to $300,000.

In the trotting division, Lovemeto returned to winning form. The son of What The Hill took out an Inter Dominion heat after previously winning the Group 1 Northern Derby in New Zealand as a 3-year-old.

Congratulations to all connections, and best of luck as you chase Inter Dominion glory in Saturday night’s Grand Final.

WOODLANDS WORLDWIDE INFLUENCE

The Woodlands Stud roster continues to dominate globally, with outstanding results across North America.

DOWNBYTHESEASIDE currently leads both the 2YO and 3YO Sires Leaderboards and sits fourth on the All-Aged Sires.

The All-Aged standings feature four Woodlands stallions inside the top six. Which means four of the top six sires in North America are Woodlands Stud stallions!

Sweet Lou – 1st
Bettor’s Delight – 3rd
Downbytheseaside – 4th
American Ideal – 6th

These standings were enhanced by the stallions results at Meadowlands Pace day on Saturday, one of North America’s biggest race meetings each season.

DOWNBYTHESEASIDE sired a feature double:

$810,000 Meadowlands Pace – Brandon Blvd (Finishing photo below)
$135,000 William Haughton Memorial – Bythemissal

Downbytheseaside also sired one of the entire William Haughton Memorial trifectas, with Bythemissal, Swingtown and For Once Inmy Life filling the first three placings in their race.

SWEET LOU also sired a feature double:

$180,000 Jerry Silverman Memorial – Loua Dipa

$135,000 William Haughton Memorial – Lou Hill

Loua Dipa was the champion 2-year-old filly of her generation last season and still holds the record as the fastest 2-year-old filly of all time. She is now set to take on the boys in the Grade 1 Adios on July 25, where she is expected to become just the second filly to contest the race in its 60-year history.

When the biggest races are on the line, the Woodlands Stud roster continues to deliver.

World-class bloodlines. Proven results. Stallions performing where it matters most,on the racetrack.

EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS

With only small crops racing, Lather Up continues to make a significant impact, producing four winners across Australasia last Friday night alone.

His star daughter Sparkling Sea (Somebeachsomewhere mare) was the standout, winning her Queensland Oaks qualifier at Albion Park by 25.7 metres!

The talented filly recorded her 10th win from just 14 starts, taking her stakes earnings beyond $212,000 and earning a place in the Group 1 final. While she hasn't drawn kindly we wish her connections the very best of luck.

Also on the Albion Park card, All Over It (Sportswriter mare) produced a career-best 1:52.9 victory, his fourth win from six starts.

At Gloucester Park, Up And Alive (Live Or Die mare) recorded his seventh career win, while Mynameisjack broke his maiden status at Addington.

Lather Up continues to leave fast, tough racehorses and remains outstanding value for 2026/27 at:

$4,000 + GST NZ
$4,400 inc GST Australia

THE WILL TO WIN

THE WILL (Majestic Son mare) recorded her second consecutive victory and third career win at Invercargill on Sunday in the Cruickshank Pryde Gold Chip Final.

Purchased from our draft for just $2,000 at the 2022 NZB Standardbred Weanling Sale, the daughter of Speeding Spur displayed terrific manners and toughness, overcoming a 20-metre handicap to win by two lengths.

The victory took Speeding Spur’s New Zealand progeny earnings beyond $100,000 from a very small number of starters, with his progeny currently achieving a top-three placing at least every three starts.

A nine-time Group 1-winning millionaire trotter, Speeding Spur remains one of the best-value trotting stallions available:

$1,000 + GST
$1,100 inc GST (fresh chilled semen available)

As the 2026/27 breeding season approaches, there has never been a better time to align with the Woodlands Stud roster.

From champions and Group 1 winners to emerging stars and proven producers, our stallions continue to deliver results at every level and across every major racing jurisdiction.

The proof is on the racetrack. The opportunity is in the breeding barn.

We look forward to working with breeders throughout Australasia and helping you breed your next star in 2026/27.
