Woodlands Stud is proud to present its 2026 Yearling Sale Draft, a line-up that blends elite bloodlines, proven genetics, and the sires that continue to shape harness racing worldwide. With 32 yearlings catalogued across some of the sport’s most influential stallions, this year’s draft offers buyers an exciting opportunity to secure their next racetrack star.

Our 2026 draft showcases progeny from our own powerhouse sires who continue to deliver Group 1 winners year after year, including Bettor’s Delight, Sweet Lou, Downbytheseaside, American Ideal, Lather Up and What The Hill, alongside high-impact stallions Captaintreacherous and Stay Hungry.

Below is an overview of each sire represented in this year’s draft.


Sire Representation in the 2026 Draft

Bettor’s Delight – 9 Yearlings

The undisputed king of pacing sires, Bettor’s Delight continues to produce champions across every major racetrack in Australasia. Renowned for toughness, consistency, and sheer will to win, his progeny dominate Group races year after year.

Woodlands Stud offers nine yearlings by the champion sire, including:

  • Lot 91 – Full brother to Group 1 NZ Derby winner Freeze Frame

  • Lot 94 - Full brother to Group 1 Northern Oaks winner Best Western


Downbytheseaside – 9 Yearlings

Few stallions have risen faster than Downbytheseaside, whose sons and daughters are now headline acts across both hemispheres. Known for speed, size, and tractability, his crops have delivered multiple Group 1 winners already in his short siring career, including Derby, Oaks, and two-year-old stars.

Woodlands presents nine of his progeny, including:

  • Lot 120 - First foal from a full sister to champion racemare Spanish Armada

  • Lot 2 - Filly whose second dam is multiple Group 1 winner Partyon

  • Lot 112 – Full sister to multiple Group 1 winner Coastal Babe


Sweet Lou – 8 Yearlings

A superstar on the track and now a proven sire of Group 1 brilliance, Sweet Lou consistently produces athletic, fast, and durable racehorses with commercial appeal.

This year’s draft features eight of his youngsters, highlighted by:

  • Lot 115 - Full sister to Group 1 WA Derby winner Christopher Dance

  • Lot 50 - Colt out of star producing broodmare Beach Parade


Lather Up – 2 Yearlings

A dual world-record breaker with electrifying speed, Lather Up is quickly establishing himself as a sire of raw speed and power, with early crops impressing on both sides of the Tasman.

Woodlands offers two colts by this emerging sire:

American Ideal – 1 Yearling

A long-standing, proven sire of top-class performers, the late American Ideal continues to leave his mark through versatile, high-speed progeny. Woodlands presents one colt:

  • Lot 98 – The first foal from a strong, consistent performing family


What The Hill – 1 Yearling

A standout trotting stallion, What The Hill has already proven he can sire elite performers with both gait and grit. Our 2026 draft includes one trotting colt:

  • Lot 126 – From a daughter of the great Merinai, representing a trotting family rich in depth and quality

Captaintreacherous – 1 Yearling

A modern breeding titan, Captaintreacherous continues to sire elite juveniles and classic-age performers around the world. We proudly present one colt from his limited Southern Hemisphere crop:
