All of our stallions will be standing the 2025/26 season at Woodlands Stud (Auckland, New Zealand) – apart from American Ideal who is only offered for New Zealand breeders via frozen semen. BETTOR'S DELIGHT

AU: $27,500 INC GST    |    NZ: $25,000 + GST

The King – Bettor’s Delight is once again heading the Woodlands roster at a spritely age of 27, and for the first time he has been in New Zealand before his younger shuttling counterparts after enjoying his first winter on farm in Auckland.

Worldwide progeny earnings for The King are now in access of $600 million which is unheard of from any sire! Woodlands Stud has again kept his stud fee unchanged for the upcoming breeding season and is proud that we can offer any breeder across Australasia a chance to breed to the best sire in the world, something we remain dedicated to do.

SWEET LOU

AU: $17,600 INC GST    |    NZ: $11,250 + GST

Roll on the 2025/26 breeding season and what was dubbed ‘The Year of Lou’ in 2023 hasn’t slowed down. Serving the biggest books in Australasia for the past 2 seasons back to back, results for Sweet Lou have been fantastic.

Australian Champion Sire for 2 and 3 year old’s in 2024, amassing over 600 individual winners in both countries are only some of the key credentials this superstar sire offers. Even more crucial, Sweet Lou offers a much needed
outcross to breeders and his stud results to date show that he has done what he was set out to do from day one.

He offers a strong pedigree with juvenile talent through to aged racing where Lou both excelled himself, produces sound progeny again like he did himself and throws some of the most beautiful types been seen in the ring and on the racetrack.

Whilst his book may be closed in Australia for the upcoming breeding season please get in touch for the 2026/27 season to get your chance to breed to Sweet Lou, New Zealand he will stand for unchanged service fee which again gives breeders confidence to breed to the game changing stallion himself for a great price.

DOWNBYTHESEASIDE

AU: $8,800 INC GST    |    NZ: $10,000 + GST

If you haven’t caught the wave yet, Downbytheseaside is doing some incredible things early in his siring career to suggest you should catch the wave this breeding season.

Currently the leading sire of individual 2 year old winners in both Australia and New Zealand for 2025 this year could not have started quicker for the star son of Somebeachsomewhere. Now with over 200 individual winners in Australasia this is certainly nothing to sneeze at with the oldest foals only being 5 years old. Downbytheseaside is not only offering strength and juvenile speed is his progeny, they can run a strong mile right up to our largest distances Australasia has to offer which is hugely encouraging.

From very strong yearling sales results down under through to multiple Group 1 winning progeny, Woodlands Stud offers again one of the most fertile horses around for very competitive pricing with his service fee coming back in Australia and remaining unchanged in New Zealand.

LATHER UP

AU: $4,400 INC GST    |    NZ: $4,000 + GST

After standing his first few seasons in Australia then making the move to New Zealand for the past breeding season, Lather Up again is returning to Auckland with the title ‘The Silent Assassin’.

The former North American Cup winner setting multiple track records over multiple distances has got off to a great start in the southern hemisphere. Down Under there have been some strong performers to date and the best part is some of the creative names that have come out of the woodwork. If you are looking for a sire with credentials like this who has won some of the races he has won for a great price, here is your horse.

Australia and New Zealand service fees for Lather Up for the upcoming season have been brought back on previous years as an incentive to breed to one of Bettor’s Delights most prolific grandsons.

SPEEDING SPUR

AU: $1,100 INC GST    |    NZ: $1,000 + GST

Woodlands Stud’s flagship trotter Speeding Spur is once again standing at stud but now as a siring winner!

Stud fees remain extremely affordable at unchanged rates in both Australia and New Zealand which we believe in this competitive trotting environment is well worth a look.

Remember, this is the stallion who took on the world and did the business winning Group 1s in Australia and New Zealand as well as going to USA and winning the equivalent of what a Group 1 would be in the southern hemisphere.

Banking in access of $1.3 million, Speeding Spur was a super race horse on the track and as his progeny are now hitting the tracks, albeit in small numbers they are doing a great job and only look to increase his presence in the trotting world.

AMERICAN IDEAL

AU: NOT AVAILABLE    |    NZ: $9,000 + GST  POLF*

And last but not least, offered to our New Zealand breeders only for the 2025/26 breeding season at an unchanged service fee is the late, great American Ideal

We sorely miss him, but his progeny in all parts of the world are continuing his legacy as we expected with over $200 million in earnings. Whilst limited doses remain via Frozen Semen there aren’t many more chances to breed to him so get in touch with the team today for more information.

WHAT THE HILL

AU/NZ: NOT AVAILABLE

Woodlands Stud is saddened to announce that What The Hill will not be returning to New Zealand. Despite support in his first few years at stud, the 2024/25 breeding season resulted in only 37 mares served in NZ and 10 in Australia. He was the leading sire of 4YO, and the second leading sire of both 2 & 3-year-olds in the spring of 2024.

The standout among What the Hill’s progeny to date is superstar Bet N WIN with 14 wins and $431,209 earned so far, including multiple Group 1 victories. He is the current joint favourite for this year's Interdominion trotting final on 19th July.
