AUSTRALASIAN KEY FEATURES DOMINATED BY WOODLANDS STALLIONS

With a bounty of key races across Australia and New Zealand, the Woodlands stallion roster enjoyed the lion’s share of group winners. Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight achieved Group 1 success in New Zealand with Raukapuka Ruler winning the Woodlands Stud sponsored $250,000 Northern Derby. In a superb front running drive by Dexter Dunn he defeated New Zealand’s best 3YO pacers.

On the same card, Bettor’s Delights Daughter Bettor’s Joy was a winner of the Group 2 Delightful Lady for the 2YO fillies. The win gave Dexter Dunn and trainer Cran Dalgety a feature race double. At Melton, square gaiter On Thunder Road, was victorious in Group 1 Grand Prix. Putting on a powerful trotting display, the son of Bettor’s Delight clinically despatched his rivals in the $100,000 feature.

American Ideal’s outstanding daughter The Orange Agent defeated all comers in $70,000 Group 2 Free for all at Auckland. She recorded career win number 19 from 28 starts. She scooted home in 55 seconds flat.

Pegasus Spur’s son Monty Python was rewarded for his consistent form with victory in Northern Southland Group 3 trot at Ascot Park. He trotted the 3200-metre journey in 4.06.6, which was a record for entire’s and geldings in the race. The win takes his earnings to over $107,000.

AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL RECORD FOR SON OF BETTOR’S DELIGHT

Bettor’s Delight continues to set the bar high and he added to CV when an Australian record was set for a yearling purchased at the Australian Pacing Gold sale in Sydney. The colt was sold for a staggering $245,000!

The dam Lady Euthenia was a five time group one winner during her career. Congratulations to purchaser Mick Maxfield and to Brooklyn Lodge who presented the outstanding colt at the sale. For Bettor’s Delight, his sale average was $82,000.

Away from the sale ring his daughters generated Group 1 victories on Miracle Mile night. Party On was a winner of the NSW Oaks and A Piccadilly Princess saluted in the Ladyship Mile.

No shortage of winners for top sire American Ideal. Out west he sired a double at Gloucester Park when American Boy and Ideal Tyson saluted the judge. At Auckland, his daughter American Princess was a winner of the $30,000 3yo fillies Graduette, she posted a 1.57.8 mile rate for the 2200 metre journey.

On the same card, top trotting sire Pegasus Spur was seen to advantage with his classy son C K Spur getting the chocolates in the trot.

LAZARUS SHOW ROLLS INTO MENANGLE  

 

Champion 4yo pacer Lazarus added to his burgeoning reputation by claiming the $200,000 Chariots of Fire at Menangle. Pacing a mile in 1.49.0 flat, he defeated a high-quality field of his own peers, blasting home in 53.8.

For the 2016/17 season, thus far, Lazarus a son of champion stallion Bettor’s Delight has won over a $1,000,000 in stakes on both sides of the ditch. Next stop is the Miracle Mile.

At Terang, Grand Circuit performer Flaming Flutter was a winner of the Group 3 Terang pacing cup. He now has $685,000 in the bank and he equalled the track record for the 2680 metre journey, posting a 1.56.6-mile rate.

American Ideal’s 2yo daughter New York Rain was an impressive winner on debut at Auckland. The filly showed outstanding high speed at the business end of the 2yo Young Guns heat, racing wide, she ran pasted her rivals in 27.4. On the same card Runrunjimmydunn was a classy winner giving American Ideal a siring double. Pegasus Spur continues to be a rich source of winners with Forfeathers and Grenado providing the progenitor with a double at Auckland, Scorched won at Redcliffe and Sarah Palin won at Waikouaiti.

BLING IT ON SPARKLES IN HUNTER CUP TRIUMPH

American Ideal’s son Bling It On’s open class career was rewarded with a decisive victory in the $500,000 Hunter Cup at Melton. Driven superbly by Luke McCarthy, Bling It On, the best juvenile of his generation has graduated to being a serious open class pacer. With over $1.5 million on his card, he also took the Melton track record for the feature posting a 1.55.1-mile rate for the 2760 metre journey. Congratulations to all concerned with Bling It On. Other good winners for American Ideal included Luisanabelle Midfrew at Menangle in 1.52.2 and American Boy was a winner at Gloucester Park.

Leviathan stallion Bettors Delight’s son Lazarus was a winner of the Group 1 Bonanza at Melton, posting a 54.6 last half he had a class edge on his rivals. He now has $1.8 million in stakes. Pegasus Spur was seen to advantage with winners in Motu Great Sensation at Forbury Park and Sexy Rexy at Cambridge.

LAZARUS THE 4YO KING

Boom 4yo pacer Lazarus joined elite company when he secured victory in the $400,000 Victoria Cup on Saturday night at Melton. Pacing a track record time for the 2240 metre Grand Circuit feature, the son of Bettor’s Delight left his opposition seeing his dust! The time of 1.52.5 took Lazarus into rarefied air. He has now made more than $1.75 million in stakes and recorded 22 career wins.

On the same card, Bettor’s Delight sired two Victorian Derby heat winners in Jack’s Legend and Motu Meteor and Miracle Mile winner Have Faith In Me was a winner of the Pure Steel. Let’s Chase The Dream paced 1.49.9 to win at Menangle giving the ‘All Stars’ stable a big night, he now heads to the Chariots Of Fire.

American Ideal’s son Mister Daytona has a been revelation out west, he recorded another win for Greg and Skye Bond at Gloucester Park, Turbulent Flow was a winner at Auckland, Foo Fighter scored at Invercargill pacing home in 57.3 and Alta Teresa was a 1.53.8 winner at Menangle capping a good week for American Ideal.

CHICAGO BULL – WHEN SIZE DOESN’T MATTER!

Diminutive pacer Chicago Bull is the new king out west following an outstanding victory in the 2017. Fremantle pacing cup at Gloucester Park. A son of leviathan stallion Bettor’s Delight, Chicago Bull  was simply too tough for his rivals. The win in the Group 1 feature took his earnings past $500,000 and he will be a key player in this week’s WA pacing cup.

The Fremantle cup saw American Ideal’s son Soho Tribeca run second, giving the Woodlands Stallions the quinella on the race.

Bettor’s Delights winners continued unabated with star pacer Lazarus winning the $60,000 Cambridge Flying Mile, Mossdale Conner was the winner of the Roxburgh cup and A Piccadilly Princess sat in the chair to win the Graham Goffin Memorial at Melton in 1.51.4. Classy filly Takara Truffle has been a revelation since arriving in Australia, the daughter of American Ideal was a sensational 32 metre winner for trainer Aaron Goadsby at Maitland.

At Cambridge, he sired a double when Ideal Roman and Idealistic greeted the judge and American Boy resumed at Gloucester Park with a very impressive victory.

Great to see Pegasus Spur’s son Monty Python defeat all comers in the trotters FFA at Otago and Arannalea was a winner at Timaru.

DREAM ABOUT ME IS THE QUEEN OF HEARTS

Australasia’s best race mare Dream About Me continued building towards the Auckland Cup with victory in the Group 1 Queen of Hearts at Auckland this week past. Dream About Me’s victory in the $100,000 feature takes her career earnings in excess of $863,000. The daughter of the stallion king Bettor’s Delight has recorded 18 career wins from 21 starts and has a magnificent seven Group 1 trophies in her cabinet.

On the same race card the Woodlands bred Spanish Armada was a winner of the Group 2 Breckon Farms Caduceus Club classic. In the $75,000 feature the Woodlands stallions landed the first three placings in the race.

Rounding out the night top flight 3yo Ultimate Machete was a winner of the Alabar classic, scooting home in 26.6. The son of Bettor’s Delight has assumed the spot as Australasia’s best 3yo.

Great week for American Ideal with a plethora of winners. Among them where Guilana Rancic at Pinjarra, Sally Fletcher paced 1.52.3 to win at Menangle, Let’s Play Ball was a Tamworth winner, Illegal Immigrant won at Addington and Run Boy Run was a Rangiora winner.

SOHO TRIBECA TAKES NO PRISONERS IN GOLD NUGGET VICTORY

Classy 4yo Soho Tribeca has plied his trade against the best of his age group since his career commenced and he was finally rewarded with a richly deserved Group One victory in the Gold Nugget at Gloucester Park on Interdominion final night. Taking control not long after the start the son of American Ideal never gave his rivals a chance with a punishing front running display. He scooted home in 55.6 and now has over $275,000 in stakes. Congratulations to his owner/breeder Robert Watson.

American Ideal looks to have handy son in Don Domingo, he was a stunning debut winner at Auckland. He crushed his rivals by nine lengths and posted a closing quarter in 27.7.

Australasia’s best mare Dream About Me stepped out at Auckland to record victory in the Caduceus Club Northern Breeders stakes. The daughter of Bettor’s Delight now has $820,000 in the bank, on the same card Bettors Delight sired another four winners, among them were Delightful Memphis and Franco Christiano.

The progeny of Pegasus Spur are consistent beasts. Quietly Spoken, Marvellous Max and Medusa all made it back to back wins with wins at Menangle, Melton and the later at Akaroa.
