THE RISE OF AMERICAN IDEAL CONTINUES

American Ideal is now clearly a very successful dual hemisphere stallion. In North America this season, he is now fourth on the All Aged stallion list and has over taken many of his contemporaries in recent times including Art Major and now Rock N Roll Hanover. A similar theme is happening ‘down under’ with not a week going past where he doesn’t leave some very good winners.

This week past he had winners in classy mare Start Dreaming who now has bankrolled over $170,000 with her recent Auckland victory, American Double smashed his rivals at Kilmore by twenty-five metres and in North America, his two top flight sons Funknwaffles and Pointomygranson where both strong winners of their Sires Stakes 2YO divisions at Yonkers.

Plenty of winners for Bettor’s Delight including a treble at Invercargill with Highview Illusion, Vera’s Delight and Sovereign Banner all winning, Bettor Downunder scored at Ballarat and Jack’s Legend won on debut at Auckland.

Congratulations to Pegasus Spur’s daughter Maori Time who was named Australian Aged Trotting Mare of the Year for the 2015/16 season. She took a lifetime mark of 1.54.2 during the season and continues to race well against all comers. Pegasus Spur may have another talented 3YO on the horizon with C K Spur a fresh up winner at Auckland for top trainer John Dickie.

 

WOODLANDS STALLIONS SHARE THE LIMELIGHT AT WOODBINE

The key features at Mohawk Racetrack, in Canada on Saturday past saw both leading stallions American Ideal and Bettor’s Delight progeny bring their ‘A game’.

In the 2yo divisions of The Champlain division for the boys, American Ideal’s son Ideal Wheel blitzed his rivals in a 1.51.4 mile rate. Trained by leading conditioner Casie Coleman, Ideal Wheel has now banked $155,000 in his debut racing season. In the other Champlain division top flight Bettor’s Delight juvenile Beyond Delight was an easy 1.52.1 winner. A $50,000 yearling purchase, he has now earned over $420,000 in stakes. North America’s best 3yo Betting Line show cased his talents at the same meeting with a 1.49.1 victory in the Simcoe Stakes. Extending his win streak to 11 wins on the bounce, the son of Bettor’s Delight has over $1.8 million on his card and heads to Delaware now for the Little Brown Jug.

Closer to home, American Ideal had good winners in Runrunjimmydunn at Cambridge, Ideal Success won at Melton in ‘The Gammalite’ and he sired a double at Addington when Kardesler and Idealindiamonds both greeted the judge.

For champion sire Bettor’s Delight, his son Chicago Bull made it ten wins in a row, with victory at Gloucester Park and open class pacer Bettor’s Fire recorded career win number 29 and took his bankroll past $500,000 with victory at the same meeting. 

 

BETTORS DELIGHT SECURES FIFTH AUSTRALIAN STALLION TITLE

Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight continued his record breaking run by securing his fifth consecutive Australian sires title when the 2015/16 season finished at the of August. His progeny made over $11,000,000 this season past, which was over four million ahead of his nearest rival. The champion son of Cams Card Shark continues to shape harness racing like no other sire has done. On the racetrack, his deeds in the northern hemisphere continue unabated with his 2yo son Beyond Delight taking out the $661,000 Metro Pace at Woodbine in 1.51.3. He has made over $370,000 in his 2yo season.

On the same card star 3yo Betting Line made it ten wins on the bounce with victory in Sires Stakes heat, he now has made close to $1.2 million so far this season.

Closer to home he had stylish winners in Bettor Be Gold at Ballarat, Gina Grace at Kilmore and Forgotten Highway was a debut winner at Addington.

American Ideal season down under has started strongly. Star performer Ideal Scott was a 1.54.5 Albion Park winner, Nicnak Paddy Wak showed plenty of stamina to win at Gloucester Park and Bunbury in the space of two days, Aztec Bromac was a 1.52.3 winner at Menangle and Twoforsixty was a Cobram winner.

American Ideal has had a lot of early season bookings for 2016/17, made sure you don’t miss out on breeding to this sire who is clearly making a name for himself.

 

WOODLANDS STALLIONS FORCE TO BE RECKON WITH ON BREEDERS CROWN DAY

 

On Breeders Crown day held at Melton, the Woodlands Stud stallion roster was once again casting its shadow over one of Australasia’s great race days. Resident trotting stallion Pegasus Spur added another Breeders Crown winner to his CV, when his star daughter Wilma’s Mate smashed the track record to win her 3YO fillies division. Posting a 1.57.3-mile rate for the 2240 metre trip, she has now banked close to $250,000 in stakes. It has been a breakout year for Wilma’s Mate, she has won the PGG Wrightson Sale Series, the New Zealand Oaks and the Victorian Derby. There is little doubt she is the premier 3YO Trotter in Australasia.

Ace 2YO filly Party On remains undefeated following her all the way victory in the $280,000 Breeders Crown fillies final. Starting from barrier seven, she showed blistering gate speed to lead and then posted a track record mile rate of 1.54.4. A daughter of champion stallion Bettor’s Delight, Party On was bred and raised at Woodlands Stud. She has now banked over $238,000 in stakes and she bought up Bettor’s Delights third consecutive siring success in a row for the fillies division.

American Ideal’s son Ideal For Real, shapes as possibly harness racing next big star. A pacer of intoxicating high speed, Ideal For Real was to talented in the 4YO Breeders Crown Entires & Geldings division. Home in 27.8, he has now banked over $300,000 in stakes. This was career win number 13 from only 21 lifetime starts, he remains undefeated as a 4yo.

BETTING LINE TAKES WORLD RECORD IN BREATHTAKING PERFORMANCE

Superstar 3yo Canadian pacer Betting Line left little doubt he is the best 3yo in North America with a world record performance in the $500,000 Battle of the Brandywine at Mohegan Sun Pocono. Betting Line paced the fastest ever mile on a 5/8 track by a 3yo, his mile rate of 1.47.2 was spectacular given, the horse flesh in his wake. This was the ninth consecutive victory for the son of Bettor’s Delight and he has bankrolled over $1.38 million. Closer to home Bettor’s Delight’s daughter Party On, remains undefeated following her semi-final victory in the 2yo fillies’ division at Bendigo, other good winners for the champion stallion included star 3yo Chicago Bull at Gloucester Park and Form Analyst was a Cranbourne winner. American Ideal’s son Soho Tribeca has had a great 3yo season and he was seen to advantage with an all the way win in his Breeders Crown semi-final at Bendigo. He paced a 1.55.7 mile rate for the journey.

No shortage of winners for American Ideal this week, among them where Lady’s Are Real at Gloucester Park, Tilly Brogden at Penrith, Seel The Deal at Addington and Aztec Bromac at Menangle.

Star trotting filly Wilma’s Mate remains undefeated in Australia, following the easiest of victories at Melton. The daughter of Pegasus Spur heads into this week’s Breeders Crown as nominal favourite for her division. Other good winners for the leading trotting stallion where Stairwaytothemoon at Globe Derby and Pretty Little Lucy won at Maryborough. With the Breeders Crown finals upcoming at Melton, we look forward to a great weekend of racing.

BETTOR’S DELIGHT CONTINUES TO REWRITE HISTORY

Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight has once again made Australian harness history with his siring deeds. For the 2015/16 season he has broken his own record of money earnt by progeny in a season. His seasonal earnings thus far have been over $10.4 million which is a staggering performance. His nearest rival is some four million dollars in his wake. The champion progenitor remains the most influential stallion in recent times ‘down under’ and perhaps the greatest stallion of all time.

No shortage of winners for Bettor’s Delight this week past, including a treble at Auckland with Mo Casino, Aliante and Zach Maguire greeting the judge.

At Menangle his classy daughter Katy Perry took her career earnings to over $430,000 with a 1.53.4 victory and Dream Fulfilled was a Ballarat winner. Top class mare Maori Time took a career best record with her 1.54.2 trotting victory at Melton. The daughter of Pegasus Spur now has $260,000 in the bank.

Other good winners for Pegasus Spur included Scorched at Albion Park and It’s Not Dark Yet.

American Ideal is currently the leading top twenty sire in Australia on average dollars per starter. He has had another terrific season in Australia and breeders are certainly flocking to him as we build towards another breeding season. Among the winners for American Ideal this week where War Dan Apollo at Penrith and Ideal Warrior at Menangle. With the Australasian Breeders Crown semi-finals headed to Bendigo this week, we wish all participants the best of luck.  

WILMAS MATE TAKES GROUP ONE VICTORIAN DERBY

Girl power was on display when outstanding filly Wilmas Mate was too strong for all her rivals in the Group One Victorian Trotters Derby at Maryborough. The daughter of sire Pegasus Spur put her rivals to the sword when she took over midrace and left them standing still with a track record run. In a break out 3yo season, she recorded career win number eleven and has now bankrolled over $200,000 in stakes. The Breeders Crown is now at her mercy. Congratulations to all concerned. Great result for Pegasus Spur who has now sired the last two Victorian Derby winners and goes about his work with little fanfare. 

Another big week for champion sire Bettor’s Delight. The highlight was a quartet of winners at Gloucester Park, among them were Three Bears, Say It Now and Char Do Neigh. He may have unearthed another handy 2yo in Hafter who remains unbeaten in four starts, following victory at Hobart. American Ideal’s appears to have another top filly in Canada. Candlelight Dinner is undefeated after she paced 1.52.2 to win at Mohawk for leading conditioner Cassie Coleman. She is staked for a big 2yo season.

Closer to home American Ideal’s top 4yo son Ideal For Real was a winner at Melton and now looks to the Breeders Crown as nominal favorite for his division. At Gloucester Park he sired a double when Billie’s A Star and American Boy greeted the judge and at Albion Park Ideal Scott edged closer to $800,000 in earnings with a 1.53.5 victory.
