WOODLANDS SIRES KICK START VICBRED SERIES IN STYLE

At Melton, this Saturday past, the Vicbred Platinum Series for 3yo’s was contested and in the early season $50,000 features, American Ideal and Bettor’s Delight sired both winners.

American Ideal’s son Soho Hamilton, was a dominant winner of the 3yo colts & geldings division. Running home in 56 and change, the regally bred colt, looks a key player in 3yo classics as the season rolls on. Congratulations to leading breeder Rob Watson, who is an unabashed fan of American Ideal!

In the 3yo filly’s division, It’s Beaujolais, was a classy winner for John and Maree Caldow. The daughter of Bettor’s Delight was bred by Chris and John Yeomans and despite working in the run was too good for her peers. Well done to these early season Group 2 winners!

American Ideal also sired good winners in Cruz at Menangle, he paced 1.50.4, Son Of A Tiger won at Gloucester Park and he sired a double at Launceston, where Ideal Karalta and Illegal Immigrant got the chocolates.

In the USA, Bettor’s Delight’s son Bettor’s Wish continued his stunning season with victory in 1.48.1 in the 3yo Kentucky Sires Stakes final. With victory in the $250,000 feature, he pushed his career earnings to over $1,381,000 million! Closer to home Bettor’s Delight sired a quartet of winners at both the Auckland and Addington meetings held in the ‘shaky isles’. Amongst the winner where the impressive Line Up and Aqua Sancta.

Sweet Lou’s son Might Looee started his 3yo season in style with a stunning victory at Auckland. He settled last in the run and stormed home to win in 1.54 and change, he showed serious closing speed!

SWEET LOU’S MILLION DOLLAR GIRL  

Sweet Lou’s ace 3yo daughter Warrawee Ubeaut became harness racing’s latest millionaire when she dealt to her peers in the Pennsylvania sires’ stake for fillies at The Meadows. In the US $253,000 final she paced 1.50 flat to score by 4 ¼ lengths. Warrawee Ubeaut, gave Sweet Lou has first millionaire as a sire and it’s hopefully the first of many!

In Kentucky, Sweet Lou’s son’s Pyro and Dancing Lou both posted wins in 1.49 to win divisions of the Kentucky Sires Stakes for 3yo’s at The Red Mile and closer to home My Sweet Deal recorded career win number three with a 15-metre victory at Bunbury.

American Ideal sired good winners in America Me at Cambridge, The Trilogy won at Gloucester Park, at Menangle, Cruz and Ideal Star gave the ‘gun sire’ a double, at Melton, Bye Bye Barbie was a winner and at Bendigo, Soho Hamilton returned as a 3yo in impressive fashion despatching his rivals in 1.54.6!

Bettor’s Delight’s son Our Corelli is quickly making a name for himself out west, he was a classy winner at Gloucester Park, at Addington, the champion sire had good winners in Let’s Hustle and Matt Damon, at Menangle Pitch Perfect and The Black Prince got the cash and It’s Beaujolais sat in the chair to win at Bendigo and on the same card Shoshone Brave got the cash also.

MERCURY RISING FOR AMERICAN IDEAL’S SON

American Ideal continues to generate top flight performers and the latest addition to his CV is classy USA pacer American Mercury. The 3yo drew passed $500,000 in career earnings with victory in the Messenger Stake at Yonkers raceway. Pacing 1.51.3, American Mercury recorded career win number nine in the $500,000 triple crown feature.

Closer to home, late season 2yo Tingiringi produced a stunning debut when she paced 1.53.9 to score at Menangle, her future looks very bright. Other good winners for American Ideal included, Infatuation at Pinjarra, Sly Dream at Leeton and at Gloucester Park he finished the Australian racing season in style with Twilight Saga and Son Of A Tiger greeting the judge.

No shortage of winner for Bettor’s Delight with a treble at Gloucester Park, amongst the winners were Pocket The Cash, Our Corelli and Bettor Be Oscar, at Menangle, Lord Zin Zan won twice in five days and Friends was a Mildura winner.

Sweet Lou was seen to advantage in New Zealand, with impressive debut winner Chevron Flies at Forbury Park and his son Fortify is now the fastest 2yo in the USA, following his Kentucky sires’ stakes victory at the Red Mile in 1.50.3! Did you know Sweet Lou’s debut 2yo Australian crop averaged close to $33,000, he was the leading 2yo sire on dollar average in Australia. What a debut from the ‘great white blaze’!

BETTOR’S WISH CONTINUES STELLAR NORTH AMERICAN 3YO SEASON

Top flight pacer Bettor’s Wish ranks amongst North American’s best 3yo pacers and he added to his burgeoning reputation when he dealt to his foes in the $400,000 Carl Milstein Memorial at Northfield Park. With Dexter Dunn in the bike, the son of Bettor’s Delight strolled to victory by 3 ½ lengths, posting a 1.50.3-mile rate. Breeders Crown is under way in Victoria and Bettor’s Delight’s progeny were seen to advantage. Hurricane Harley and Demon Delight won heats of the 3yo lads division, Two Times Bettor was an impressive 3yo fillies heat winner and Jemstone led all the way to win a 2yo fillies heat.

American Ideal cut a sway through the Newcastle meeting with a treble, the winners included Regal Rock and Glenn Ford, at Auckland he sired a double when Flying Steps and debut winner Henry Hu greeted the judge, Illegal Immigrant won at Launceston and American Tour got the cash at Mildura.

The decision to send ‘gun’ trotter Speeding Spur to show case his skills in North America has borne fruit with victory in the USD $148,000 Crawford trot at Tioga Downs. The son of Pegasus Spur trotted a career best and Aged male record for Tioga Downs when he scooted round in 1.52.4! A big shout out to hall of fame trainer Linda Toscano and driver Brian Sears who steered ‘dell boy’ to his USA win.

STUNNING DEBUT FROM I’M A GIGOLO

Sweet Lou has unearthed another quality pacer ‘down under’ with the breath-taking debut of 3yo I’m A Gigolo at Addington. Settling at the rear, he circled the field at the half and kept going to win by a staggering 9 ¼ lengths. Running home in 28 and change the son of Sweet Lou was bred and raised at Woodlands Stud was sold at the 2018 yearling sales. The horse was purchased by American owner Larry Karr, a former part owner of Sweet Lou.

American Ideal sired a number of doubles across Australia, this week past with Vettel and Miss Blue Glory winning at Albion Park, at Penrith, King Triton and Rain Man greeted the judge and at Gloucester Park, Prada’s Ideal Dahling and Ideal One got the chocolates.

Bettor’s Delight marches towards his eighth Australian sires title with plenty of winners, amongst them were Raptor’s Flight and Max Delight who both broke 1.53 at Melton, Pembrooks Passion and Bettor Be Lucky both won at Menangle, Revolt scored at Echuca, American Delight at Gloucester Park and he sired another double when The Pantheist and Luvhavinfun won at Geelong.

Pegasus Spur’s star daughter I Am Pegasus made it career win number eight with victory at Maryborough and the ageless wonder It’s Not Dark Yet was a winner at Geelong.

SUNSETS ON ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL KIWI BREEDING SEASON

The 2018/19 racing season has concluded in New Zealand and legendary stallion Bettor’s Delight’s emphatically claimed his eighth consecutive stallion title in the ‘shaky isles’. Great to see Highview Tommy generate another winner as Matamua scorched to victory in her 3yo fillies Regional Breeders Challenge heat at Bathurst.

BETTOR’S DELIGHT CONTINUES TO REWRITE SIRING HISTORY  

Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight dominance of the Australia breeding scene continues relentlessly and in the week past his seasonal stallion earnings past $12,000,000 million dollars. In passing this figure he bested his own previous record and no other stallion in harness history can lay claim to his dual hemisphere deeds!

At Albion Park, Bettor’s Delight’s latest sensation Self Assured remains undefeated following his victory in the Queensland Derby. The 3yo now has recorded six wins on the bounce and paced a track record for the feature, he cruised home in 53.8! On the same card ace filly Jiggle and Jive won the $100,000 QBRED Triad fillies final for the 2yo’s. The daughter of Bettor’s Delight has enjoyed a great 2yo season. MEADOWLANDS PACE BELONGS TO BETTOR’S DELIGHT’S BOYS

At 21 years old, champion stallion Bettors Delight’s race track success has no boundaries! At the Meadowlands this Saturday past he sired the quinella in the legendary Meadowlands Pace for the 3yo colts and geldings. In the $682,000 feature his son Best In Show won the feature and stopped the clock in 1.48 flat! The victory gave Best In Show a winner’s cheque of $341,325! Bettor’s Wish ran a monster race to finish second after sitting in the open for the majority of the race.

Closer to home, Bettors Delight’s son Ohoka Punter won the Group 1 ‘Blacks A Fake at Albion Park and on the same card Self Assured announced himself as the next big thing when he sat in the chair to win the South East Derby, he paced his closing half in 53.4!

American Ideal recorded a plethora of winners this week and among them where Our Jack Starr at Bathurst, Maximus Red scored career win number 13 at Bathurst, Float On Bye won on debut in her 2yo race at Melton, Saying Grace was too classy at Gloucester Park and New York Rain paced 1.53.8 to score at Menangle.

Pegasus Spur had good New Zealand winners in CK Spur at Auckland and Imran Khan bowled them over to win at Forbury Park. Sweet Lou’s 2yo’s are rolling in North America and his latest winner was Columbo who won the $120,250 Lawrence B Sheppard pace at Yonkers in 1.55.4. He remains undefeated after two career starts.
