BIG GUNS TUNE UP FOR FREMANTLE CUP  

Champion pacer Lazarus and his top flight 4yo stablemate Ultimate Machete had winning hit outs at Gloucester Park ahead of the Group One Fremantle Cup this Friday. Afforded little favours the dynamic duo both sat in the chair to win their respective races. The $300,000 feature will see ten of the twelve starters sired by Woodlands Stud stallions American Ideal and Bettor’s Delight.

American Ideal enjoy a stellar start to the year with plenty of winners in New Zealand. He sired a treble at Wyndham with Idealistic Lass, Foo Fighter and Leah Mac all winning, Classie American won at Hawera, To Ri Elsie at Rangiora and Ideal Conquest got the cash at Roxburgh.

Bettor’s Delights daughter Delishka was an impressive winner of the Roxburgh Cup, at Cambridge he sired a treble when Bettor Step Aside, Positano and Trinity Bromac all won and Gotta Go Electobet won at Melton.

Trotting stallion, Pegasus Spur had good winners on both sides of ‘the ditch’, among them where One Over Dover at Rangiora, War Machine was too classy at Roxburgh, Marvellous Max overcame his 30 metre to win at Cobram and top mare Our Dainty Lady was an Albion Park winner.

WOODLANDS STALLIONS END 2017 IN STYLE

The Woodlands Stud stallions finished the calendar year in style with a feast of winners in both Australia and New Zealand.

On Auckland Cup day, our stallion roster sired 50% of the winners on the programme. Relentlessly juggernaut Bettors Delight had a quartet of winners, amongst them was Elle Mac who was a winner of the 3yo fillies Group 1 Sires stakes final, Jesse Duke was a very impressive debut 2yo winner also. The Woodlands bred and raised son of Bettor’s Delight sat in the chair and closed out the race in 26 and change.

American Ideal’s daughters American Empress and American Tart where very impressive winners as well, both claiming decisive wins on the feature day.

At Gloucester Park, Bettor’s Fire was an impressive winner of the Group 2 Village Kid sprint, he led a Woodlands Stallions trifecta in the $50,000 feature, at Ballarat, The Faithful was a winner of the Golden Mile, he led in a Woodlands bred and raised quinella with Can’t Refuse running second.

American Ideal had very good winners in American Alice at Westport, Paint The Wind at Devonport and Dom Domingo at Banks Peninsula.

Trotting sires Crazed produced winners Geena’s Girl at Westport and Pegasus Spur sired Motu Great Sensation to win at Westport also.

MY HARD COPY JOINS MILLIONAIRES CLUB

American Ideal’s top-flight son My Hard Copy became harness racing’s latest millionaire when recorded career win number 23 at Gloucester Park. The Woodlands Stud bred and raised performer has raced at the elite level in recent years and is a deserved millionaire. Congratulations to all concerned with the diminutive pacer.

Plenty of winners for American Ideal on both sides of the ditch, among them where a double at Cambridge where Kaitlyn and Yankee Lincoln where winners, Illegal Immigrant made it back to wins with victory at Hobart, American Empress won at Auckland and Goodtime Slater won at Geelong.

Bettors Delight bought plenty of Christmas cheer with a plethora of winners. At Melton he sired a double when The Faithful and Gotta Go Electobet got the chocolates, Raukapuka Ruler added the Ashburton Cup to his CV, Don’t Tell William was an impressive winner at Globe Derby, Bettor B Ready was a part of a winning Bettor’s Delight treble at Wairio and The Black Prince continued on his winning way at Menangle.

Resident trotting stallion, Pegasus Spur had good winners in Imran Khan at Forbury Park, Another Chapter at Addington and All The Way Mae at Maryborough.

GROUP RACING SUCCESS CONTINUES FOR WOODLANDS STALLIONS

Woodlands Stud stallions continued their recent run of Group racing victories on both sides of the Tasman this week past.

Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight’s ace daughter Partyon shared the spoils in the Group 1 ‘Queen Of Hearts’ at Auckland. The Woodlands Stud bred mare took her earnings to close to $600,000 and she has been a Group 1 winner in every season she has graced the track.

Partyon was one of over forty winners for Bettor’s Delight in the last week. Amongst those to greet the judge where Wrappers Delight at Gloucester Park, Rishi at Ballarat, Kensington Palace at Rangiora and Kotare Yarra at Echuca.

Gun sire American Ideal’s classy son Aztec Bromac produced career win number sixteen with victory in the Group 2 ‘Queensland Cup’ at Albion Park. Pacing 1.54.2, he now has over $287,000 in the locker. No shortage of winners for American Ideal with Illegal Immigrant winning at Launceston, Our American Princess won at Wagga, Ideal Again at Rangiora and Shards Halo impressed at Newcastle.

Pegasus Spur’s progeny just keep winning, The Crown Jewels won at Auckland, Mr Fahrenheit dealt to his rivals by 5 ½ lengths at Addington and War Machine won at Winton.

LAZARUS JOINS HARNESS RACINGS ELITE

Champion pacer Lazarus confirmed his status as one harness racing’s greats with a clinical despatch of his rivals in the 2017 Interdominion at Gloucester Park. With Mark Purdon controlling the tempo from the breeze, the son of Bettor’s Delight added the $1.1 million race to his staggering CV. His career spans 33 wins and $3.3 million in stakes, making him Bettor’s Delights richest offspring. Bettor’s Delight also trifected the great race! Congratulations to everybody involved in this champion of our sport.

Bettor’s Delight’s gun 4yo son Ultimate Machete added the Group 1 ‘Gold Nugget’ to his record with in effortless win in the key feature at Gloucester Park also. With over $781,000 in the locker took no prisoners against his own age. Ultimate Machete will be a key player in any future race he contests.

American Ideal’s classy daughter Ideal Alice was a winner of the Group 1 Westral Mares Classic on the same card at Gloucester Park. Rated to perfection by Gary Hall Jnr, she now has over $400,000 in career earnings.

All three Group 1 features for the pacers where sired by the Woodlands Stud stallions on harness racing’s biggest night and our progeny took home over $1.2 million in stakes for their connections.

WOODLANDS STALLIONS CAST BIG SHADOW OVER INTERDOMINION

The $1.1 million Inter-Dominion final will be run at Gloucester Park, this Friday night and the Woodlands Stud stallion roster is represented by six of the ten starters in the time-honoured Australasian race feature.

Bettor’s Delight is represented by his five sons, Lazarus, Chicago Bull, Have Faith In Me, Tiger Tara and Galactic Star. Top stud, American Ideal’s multiple heat winner Soho Tribeca joins the gang in what should be a race for the ages. We wish all runners the best of the luck in the final.

Bettor’s Delight had key winners in A Piccadilly Princess who won the Group 3 mares race at Gloucester Park, Bettorthanspecial paced 1.52.3 to win at Albion Park and He Can Fly was very impressive winning in the chair at Melton.

American Ideal sired a treble at Methven, Just N Awe, Quite Ideal and Nearis Green all won on the grass track, Rain Man was an impressive winner for trainer Steve Reid at Auckland and The American Dream got the chocolates in the Sunshine State.

Pegasus Spur had very good New Zealand winners in Another Chapter at Addington and Paradise Spur at Oamaru

YOUAREMYCANDYGIRL COMPLETES EPIC DEBUT SEASON

American Ideal’s freakish daughter Youaremycandygirl has just completed a 2yo season for the ages when she won the $351,000 ‘Three Diamonds’ final at the Meadowlands. Pacing a mile in 1.51 she defied all challengers, with earnings of over $895,000 this season, the niece of Sweet Lou is a once in a generation filly. She is the top 2yo earner in the USA this year, even earning more money than any 2yo freshmen colt or gelding!

American Ideal’s top-flight son Soho Tribeca sent a clear message to all his Interdominion rivals with an opening round heat at Gloucester Park. Leaving his rivals flat footed he scooted home in 54 and change, he now has over $500,000 on his card.

Other good winners for American Ideal Included Triple Eight who remains undefeated in three starts, following another impressive Auckland victory, Saying Grace won on debut at Geraldine by five lengths and Shards Halo was a Newcastle winner.

Champion stallion Bettor’s Delights millionaire son Chicago Bull won his opening round Interdominion heat at Gloucester Park, he will certainly be a key player in the series moving forward, on the same card talented 4yo Ultimate Machete was a winner of the $125,000 4yo Classic, untouched he defeated his rivals easily.

Resident trotting stallion Pegasus Spur had very good winners in Xtra Time at Manawatu and Medusa was an impressive five length winner at Banks Peninsula.

ULTIMATE MACHETE CLAIMS NEW ZEALAND RECORD

Top flight 4yo pacer Ultimate Machete announced to the open class pacers he will be a force to be reckoned with when he sat in the chair to win the Group One Woodland Stud Free For All at Addington. In the $260,000 feature the son of Bettors Delight paced a New Zealand record of 1.51.9 for the 1950 metre journey. With over $570,000 on his ticket, he now heads to Perth for the key feature races during the coming weeks.

At Wyndham, Kiwi On Show paced a race track record for the mile when she stopped the clock in 1.52.2, she led in a Bettors Delight sired treble at Wyndham where Southbound Train and Steiger also greeted the judge. In Australia, War Dan was an impressive winner at Cranbourne on debut and Can’t Refuse was a Melton winner.

American Ideal’s millionaire son Bling It On resumed from an injury enforced break to win first up at Menangle in 1.50.8, it was a stunning return to racing. No shortage of winners for American Ideal with Sheez Good winning at Ashburton, Triple Eight remained undefeated with victory at Auckland, Ideal Suspect won at Gunbower, Estocada won amongst the goldfields of Kalgoorlie and Ideal Situation won at Menangle.
