NZ Sales & Marketing Manager

Woodlands Stud is looking for a dynamic person to become our Sales and Marketing Manager to promote our Standardbred Stud within New Zealand.  Ideally they should have an extensive knowledge of the Harness Racing Industry with good communication and organising skills. The right person will be part of a sales team liaising with the NZ based Studmaster, office staff and our Australia based Sales & Marketing Manager.

The role includes

  • Managing our racing syndicates
  • Adding value to existing client relationships through effective marketing and selling service fees to our stallion
  • Using all forms of social media including Facebook, Twitter and our website
  • Attending race meetings and promotional events
  • Marketing our horses at both weanling and yearling sales.

The stud is based in Auckland however the right person can be based anywhere nationwide.

An attractive remuneration package includes a late model car.

Stud Groom / Farm Assistant

A full time permanent position is available for a Stud Groom on our Standardbred Stud Farm, Woodlands Stud based in Clevedon. The Stud is well established and comprises of several properties around the outskirts of Auckland City totaling over 1800 acres.

BETTOR’S DELIGHT PROGENY ROAR INTO BREEDERS CROWN FINALS

Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight’s progeny led the way at Bendigo on breeder’s crown semi-final night with three winners.

New Zealand 2yYO filly Our Bettor Joy kick started proceedings with victory in her race, she posted a closing half in 55.9. The Woodlands Stud bred Partyon won her 3YO fillies division, this was career win number fourteen and with over $520,000 on her card, she has been a super filly. Tough 3YO Motu Meteor sat in the chair to win his semi-final. Afforded no favours he simply toyed with his rivals to win in 1.56.6. He will be a key player in his 3YO final come super Sunday.

Super sire American Ideal’s juveniles continue to win in Australia, with multiple winners this past week including Muffins at Gloucester Park, Alpha Charlie at Terang, Arch Empress at Redcliffe and American Zest prevailed at Swan Hill. At Menangle, his top-flight daughter Takara Truffle took a career best record when she paced 1.52.8 to win the Group 3 Baby Bling for the 3YO fillies, providing back to back wins for her Aaron Goadsby. Other good winners for American Ideal included Vettel who scorched around Menangle in 1.51.5 and Fon Ideal was a runaway winner at Redcliffe.

With the Australasian Breeders Crown on this Sunday, we wish all participants the best of luck.

 

BURNAHOLEINMYPOCKET SCORCHES IN MINUTEMAN

Ace Victorian pacer Burnaholeinmypocket was at his brilliant best when he defeated all comers in the Minuteman Free For All at Melton. Sitting in the chair the son of Bettor’s Delight was simply too tough for his opposition. The Breckon Farms bred gelding now has $220,000 in the locker and this was career win number 18 for the 5yo.

On the same card, the Charles Roberts bred Our Maxim was a winner, the former Victorian Derby winner now has over $430,000 in the bank. Other winners for Bettor’s Delight included Form Analyst and Motu Meteor who both won their respective Australasian Breeders Crown heats at Bendigo and classy 2yo filly Our Bettor Joy was won her Breeders Crown 2yo fillies heat in stylish fashion at Shepparton.

Top sire American Ideal sired another 2yo in Australia when Ideal Suspect used the sprint lane to win at Cobram, Vettel was an impressive 1.55.9 winner at Bathurst, Parker made it back to back wins at Auckland, the Takara Truffle show rolled into Menangle and she led from barrier to box in 1.53 and change for trainer Aaron Goadsby and out west The Sprinter return to winning ways at Gloucester Park.

Top flight Victorian trotting mare Maori Time was an impressive all the way winner at Melton. The daughter of Pegasus Spur recorded career win number 20 and she has now banked over $335,000 for owner Fred Crews with victory in the Group 3 Aldebaran Park Trotters Free For All.

 

WOODLANDS STALLIONS BIG WINNERS AT NZ AWARDS

With the 2016/17 racing season at an end in New Zealand, the annual wards where held in Christchurch and the Woodlands stallions certainly had a night to remember.

American Ideal, Bettor’s Delight and trotting stallion Pegasus Spur’s progeny where amongst the annual winners.

‘The King’, Bettor’s Delight was crowned pacing stallion of the year for the sixth consecutive season and his champion son Lazarus was New Zealand horse of the year and 4yo pacing entire or gelding of the year. Congratulations to all winners of awards for the 2016/17 season.

On the race track, plenty of winners for our stallion’s including American Ideal’s progeny, amongst them where American Tour at Mildura, Kardesler at Addington, he sired a double at Gloucester Park when Ideal Diamante and Whozideawasthis greeted the judge and Resurgent Dream was a Hobart winner.

Key winners for Bettor’s Delight included Captured Delight at Gloucester Park, Motu Meteor at Ballarat and Melinda Lowe won at Addington.

Pegasus Spur had a good a Redwood Carnival at Maryborough with 2yo Trotting Rockstar and Desert Flyer getting the chocs and Alderbeck was an easy winner at Oamaru.

 

MORE THE BETTOR DELIVERS DERBY IN RECORD TIME

Ace 3YO More The Bettor took his career earnings to over $530,000 with a track record victory in the Queensland Derby at Albion Park. Taking over midrace, he returned a mile rate of 1.56.0 for the 2680 metre trip, blasting a last half in 55.6! Congratulations to All Stars racing and part owner the legendary Roy Purdon.

Another All Stars pacer Lazarus was crowned Australasian Grand Circuit champion for 2016/17. The son of Bettor’s Delight was a clear victor having a season for the ages!

Other winners for Bettor’s Delight included Last Party at Addington, Look And Listen at Menangle, Bettor Joy at Ashburton and gun pacer Chicago Bull at Gloucester Park. American Ideal notched another 2yo winner in New Zealand when Alta Shangri La greeted the judge at Auckland, Covered N Diamonds dashed home in 27 flat to win at Addington, at Newcastle he sired a double when Ideal Investment and the Aaron Goadsby trained Takara Truffle got the chocolates. Top trotting sire Pegasus Spur had good winners in Scorching Along at Shepparton and Mosquito Spur was a Redcliffe winner.

 

THE PARTY BEGINS IN QUEENSLAND  

Outstanding filly Partyon started her Australian campaign in style with victory in the Provincial Oaks at Albion Park. Taking no prisoners, the daughter of Bettor’s Delight sat in the open to win the key feature race. The Woodlands Stud bred filly has now won over $500,000 for her owners and remains undefeated on Australian soil.

On the same card, gun 3yo pacer The More the Bettor was the winner of the time-honoured Premiers Cup. He cruised to a ten-metre victory and the son of Bettor’s Delight has the Queensland Derby in his sights.

The leviathan stallion Bettor’s Delight has now sired 20 individual 2yo winners thus far this season in Australia from only 32 starters, his latest 2yo winner was Royal Gamble who was a Newcastle winner.

American Ideal’s ace WA based son Ideal Tyson, has now banked over $150,000 following his latest win at Gloucester Park, at Bathurst Our Jack Starr became American Ideal’s latest 2yo winner when led from barrier to box, Soho Tribeca paced 1.56.6 to win his Vicbred semi final and American Ideal had good kiwi winners in Sweet As at Forbury Park, Classic American at Auckland and Chloe won at Timaru.

Woodlands will once again offer frozen semen by top sire Crazed in the 2017/18 season. His superstar son Crazy Wow, added the USD$185,000 Cleveland Trotting Classic to his CV this Saturday past. With over $1.8 million in stakes, the Ron Burke trained star recorded his eighteen-career win and in doing so trotted a new All Aged record for trotters at Northfield Park, scooting round in 1.52.3

 

IDEAL BLISS TOO CLASSY IN EVICUS FINAL

Rookie Tasmanian filly Ideal Bliss, has been the standout among her peers this season and was rewarded for her consistency with victory in the Group 3 Evicus final at Hobart. In the $40,000 race, the daughter of top sire American Ideal, recorded her third career victory, she has never been out of the money in five lifetime starts. Congratulations to her breeder Charlie Beadman and gun juvenile trainer Paul Hill.

American Ideal’s Australian 2yo winners continued when Rosie’s Ideal easily accounted for her rivals at Bunbury. Top flight pacer Soho Tribeca travelled east to easily win his Vicbred 4yo heat at Ballarat, the son of American Ideal now has over $350,000 in the locker and is nominal favourite for the series.

No shortage of winners for the stallion king Bettor’s Delight in Australia and New Zealand. Among his winners where Motu Premier at Gloucester Park, Passion’s Delight was an impressive Vicbred heat winner at Bendigo, King Solomon got the chocolates at Maryborough and at Addington he sired a quartet of winners, among them where the Woodlands Stud bred and Woodlands Syndicate Raced Spirit Of Delight and Usain Colt.

 

BETTORS UP LANDS THE FAN HANOVER

At Mohawk, this Saturday past, Bettor’s Delight’s classy 3yo daughter Bettor’s Up showed plenty of bottom to win the time-honoured fillies classic the Fan Hanover. In the $440,000 feature, Bettor’s Up paced 1.49.4, this was her eighth career win and she has bankrolled over $456,000 in stakes.

Closer to home Bettor’s Delight sired a treble at Albion Park when Kept Under Wraps, Bettorthanspecial and Delightful Memphis all greeted the judge. Sherriff made a very impressive debut at Addington, the 2yo paced 1.55.1 on debut for the 1950 metre journey after sitting in the chair and out west the Woodlands Stud bred Bettor B Abeliever opened his 2yo account with victory at Gloucester Park.

Top sire American Ideal, produced another 2yo winner in Australia, when American Tour won on debut at Ouyen, at Penrith he sired a double when Alta Teresa and American Legend where both good winners, at Forbury Park Six Diamonds scooted home in 27.5 and at Melton, Long Forest Creek was a winner with Anthony Butt in the bike.

Our Dainty Lady must love the Queensland sunshine as the daughter of Pegasus Spur won at again at Albion Park, this was her 15th career win and she has over $130,000 in the locker.
