THE PARTY BEGINS IN QUEENSLAND  

Outstanding filly Partyon started her Australian campaign in style with victory in the Provincial Oaks at Albion Park. Taking no prisoners, the daughter of Bettor’s Delight sat in the open to win the key feature race. The Woodlands Stud bred filly has now won over $500,000 for her owners and remains undefeated on Australian soil.

On the same card, gun 3yo pacer The More the Bettor was the winner of the time-honoured Premiers Cup. He cruised to a ten-metre victory and the son of Bettor’s Delight has the Queensland Derby in his sights.

The leviathan stallion Bettor’s Delight has now sired 20 individual 2yo winners thus far this season in Australia from only 32 starters, his latest 2yo winner was Royal Gamble who was a Newcastle winner.

American Ideal’s ace WA based son Ideal Tyson, has now banked over $150,000 following his latest win at Gloucester Park, at Bathurst Our Jack Starr became American Ideal’s latest 2yo winner when led from barrier to box, Soho Tribeca paced 1.56.6 to win his Vicbred semi final and American Ideal had good kiwi winners in Sweet As at Forbury Park, Classic American at Auckland and Chloe won at Timaru.

Woodlands will once again offer frozen semen by top sire Crazed in the 2017/18 season. His superstar son Crazy Wow, added the USD$185,000 Cleveland Trotting Classic to his CV this Saturday past. With over $1.8 million in stakes, the Ron Burke trained star recorded his eighteen-career win and in doing so trotted a new All Aged record for trotters at Northfield Park, scooting round in 1.52.3

 

IDEAL BLISS TOO CLASSY IN EVICUS FINAL

Rookie Tasmanian filly Ideal Bliss, has been the standout among her peers this season and was rewarded for her consistency with victory in the Group 3 Evicus final at Hobart. In the $40,000 race, the daughter of top sire American Ideal, recorded her third career victory, she has never been out of the money in five lifetime starts. Congratulations to her breeder Charlie Beadman and gun juvenile trainer Paul Hill.

American Ideal’s Australian 2yo winners continued when Rosie’s Ideal easily accounted for her rivals at Bunbury. Top flight pacer Soho Tribeca travelled east to easily win his Vicbred 4yo heat at Ballarat, the son of American Ideal now has over $350,000 in the locker and is nominal favourite for the series.

No shortage of winners for the stallion king Bettor’s Delight in Australia and New Zealand. Among his winners where Motu Premier at Gloucester Park, Passion’s Delight was an impressive Vicbred heat winner at Bendigo, King Solomon got the chocolates at Maryborough and at Addington he sired a quartet of winners, among them where the Woodlands Stud bred and Woodlands Syndicate Raced Spirit Of Delight and Usain Colt.

 

BETTORS UP LANDS THE FAN HANOVER

At Mohawk, this Saturday past, Bettor’s Delight’s classy 3yo daughter Bettor’s Up showed plenty of bottom to win the time-honoured fillies classic the Fan Hanover. In the $440,000 feature, Bettor’s Up paced 1.49.4, this was her eighth career win and she has bankrolled over $456,000 in stakes.

Closer to home Bettor’s Delight sired a treble at Albion Park when Kept Under Wraps, Bettorthanspecial and Delightful Memphis all greeted the judge. Sherriff made a very impressive debut at Addington, the 2yo paced 1.55.1 on debut for the 1950 metre journey after sitting in the chair and out west the Woodlands Stud bred Bettor B Abeliever opened his 2yo account with victory at Gloucester Park.

Top sire American Ideal, produced another 2yo winner in Australia, when American Tour won on debut at Ouyen, at Penrith he sired a double when Alta Teresa and American Legend where both good winners, at Forbury Park Six Diamonds scooted home in 27.5 and at Melton, Long Forest Creek was a winner with Anthony Butt in the bike.

Our Dainty Lady must love the Queensland sunshine as the daughter of Pegasus Spur won at again at Albion Park, this was her 15th career win and she has over $130,000 in the locker.

NO BULL, HE’S BACK IN TOWN  

Diminutive pacer Chicago Bull resumed in stunning style at Gloucester Park last Friday. Settling at the rear, Gary Hall Jnr, circled the field to assume control in the 1730 metre race and Chicago Bull easily accounted for his rival’s fresh up. In a career that spans 31 starts, the son of Bettor’s Delight has greeted the judge 19 times for stakes of over $886,000.

At Menangle Tiger Tara roared off the speed to defeat all comers in the Group 3 Garrards Mile. Taking the feature in 1.52.6, the Bettor’s Delight entire now has $884,000 in the locker. At Redcliffe, Kept Under Wraps was a winner of the Redcliffe Gold Cup, he has accumulated over $350,000 in earnings.

No shortage of winners for American Ideal with Overboard Again scoring at Gloucester Park, War Dan Apollo paced 1.55.5 to win at Albion Park, at Invercargill he sired a double when Ideal Art and Dancing In The Dark got the chocolates. American Ideal’s classy 2yo daughter Ideal Bliss was a winner of her Evicus prelude at Hobart and Twoforsixty was a 1.56.6 winner at Shepparton.

There is no more consistent trotter in Victoria than Brynmor at the moment, the son of Pegasus Spur was an easy Bendigo winner, Scorching Along was a Shepparton winner and at Nelson, Mr Fahrenheit cleared maiden ranks with a well-deserved victory.

 

WOODLANDS STALLIONS UNSTOPPABLE FORCE ON JEWELS DAY

The 2017 edition of the ‘Harness Jewels’ held at Ashburton was certainly a day out for our stallions Pegasus Spur and Bettor’s Delight.

Wilma’s Mate a daughter of Pegasus Spur defeated all comers in the 4yo Ruby for the square gaiters. In a powerful display, she despatched her peers many of them male in 1.55.5! Wilma’s Mate now has $325,000 in career earnings.

Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight held court with four Group One winners on this day of speed.

Harness racing’s toughest mare Piccadilly Princess won the 4yo mares Diamond in 1.53.8 and now has banked over $660,000 in stakes.

Australasia’s best filly Spanish Armada was brutal in defeating her age group of 3yo fillies. The Woodlands bred star now has over $785,000 in the locker and she paced 1.52.1 in her Diamond victory.

In the 2yo Emerald for the boys Ashley Locaz became a NZ record holder with his 1.51.9 victory it was great win for a locally bred pacer!

Jack’s Legend became Bettor’s Delight’s fourth Group 1 winner for the day when he outsprinted his rivals to win the 3yo Emerald.

WOODLANDS STALLIONS ENJOY GROUP 1 SUCCESS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE TASMAN

American Ideal and Bettor’s Delight had a stellar weekend in Australia and New Zealand when their progeny secured three Group 1 winners in the key racing fixtures in both countries. American Ideal’s daughter The Orange Agent is currently the hottest female pacer ‘down under’ and she has completed the mares triple crown when she won the Benstud Queen of the Pacific at Melton. Scooting home in 55.5, she has now banked over $725,000 and recorded 23 career wins.

Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight had a night out at Addington. His son Spankem was a winner of the NZ  Group 1 2yo sires stake final. Spankem has never been out of the money in nine career starts and has now bankrolled over $170,000. This was a richly deserved victory. Star 3yo filly Spanish Armada, punished her rivals in NZ Oaks. In a brutal performance for the 2600 metre journey she was a 6 ¾ length winner. In the process, she obliterated the NZ fillies record. With over $712,000, the Woodlands Stud bred star is clearly the head of the class. Congratulations to everybody associated with these Group 1 winners.

SPANISH ARMADA GOLD HAUL CONTINUES

Diminutive 3yo filly Spanish Armada added her fourth Group 1 win victory to her stellar career when she won the $140,000 Nevele R fillies final at Addington. Pacing 1.54.2 for the 1950 metre journey, Spanish Armada scooted home in 54.5seconds. In seventeen career starts the daughter of Bettor’s Delight has won 12 of those and has bankrolled over $630,000 in stakes for owner Jean Feiss. Woodlands Stud are the very proud breeders of this star filly.

Other good winners for Bettor’s Delight included None Bettor at Albion Park, Maxim at Auckland, and Motu Premier was an impressive winner at Menangle.

American Ideal’s star daughter The Orange Agent was a very impressive winner at Melton in the Group 3 Angelique Club Cup. She easily accounted for her opposition and remains on course for The Queen of Pacific to held this week.

American Ideal’s daughter Patanjali made it back to back wins with victory at Addington, Ideal Bliss was an easy winner of the 2yo fillies sweepstakes prelude at Hobart and That’s Ideal was too classy at Wagga.
