The 2017 edition of the ‘Harness Jewels’ held at Ashburton was certainly a day out for our stallions Pegasus Spur and Bettor’s Delight.

Wilma’s Mate a daughter of Pegasus Spur defeated all comers in the 4yo Ruby for the square gaiters. In a powerful display, she despatched her peers many of them male in 1.55.5! Wilma’s Mate now has $325,000 in career earnings.

Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight held court with four Group One winners on this day of speed.

Harness racing’s toughest mare Piccadilly Princess won the 4yo mares Diamond in 1.53.8 and now has banked over $660,000 in stakes.

Australasia’s best filly Spanish Armada was brutal in defeating her age group of 3yo fillies. The Woodlands bred star now has over $785,000 in the locker and she paced 1.52.1 in her Diamond victory.

In the 2yo Emerald for the boys Ashley Locaz became a NZ record holder with his 1.51.9 victory it was great win for a locally bred pacer!

Jack’s Legend became Bettor’s Delight’s fourth Group 1 winner for the day when he outsprinted his rivals to win the 3yo Emerald.
